Buzzfeed video app hits the market
New app is expected to be the go-to place for binge watching and viral clips.
Buzzfeed is the next player in the market to embrace the growing popularity of mobile video consumption, with the launch of its new video app - BuzzFeed Video.
The app was unveiled by BuzzFeed founder and chief executive Jonah Peretti at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona yesterday (February 23rd).
BuzzFeed Video is aiming to cultivate and catalyse viral video, in addition to providing a platform for exclusive video releases. Furthermore, it is hoping to capitalise on the binge-watching generation with shows such as The Try Guys, Violet, Broke, and Tasty.
Market demand for video has exploded and is expected to grow further still. With this in mind, 73 per cent of publishers have pledged to inject more video inventory into the market, according to a study conducted by Forrester.
BuzzFeed is seen to be, in some respects, leading the market with its new app. Having launched on Android and iOS, the app will index BuzzFeed content in addition to viral videos from across the web.
