How UEFA used AR to generate Champions League final excitement
UEFA teamed up with Snapchat to offer an augmented reality Bitmoji experience ahead of the weekend's Champions League final.
Ahead of the weekend's Champions League final between Liverpool and Real Madrid, UEFA teamed up with Snapchat to provide football fans with an innovative augmented reality (AR) Bitmoji experience.
Snapchat users were able to see their own Bitmojis play keepy-uppy while the UEFA Champions League anthem played, before seeing themselves lift the trophy.
There was also an option to record the AR animation, allowing Snapchatters to share the clip via their Snapchat Stories or in a direct message to their friends, helping to generate excitement around the game across digital channels, before Real Madrid emerged victorious.
Ben Schwerin, vice-president of partnerships at Snap Inc, said last week: "We're delighted to be collaborating with UEFA to create a fun, 3D Bitmoji Lens that features the iconic UEFA Champions League anthem." He added that he was excited to see Snapchat users across the world joining in the excitement and sharing it with their friends.
