Snapchat to launch tech magazine

The social platform is entering the world of publishing with its tech magazine Real Life.

Snapchat has announced plans to enter into the world of publishing by launching its own tech magazine Real Life.

It is intended to appeal to audiences looking for in-depth content, and will be publishing "essays, arguments and narratives about living with technology", the social network stated in a blog post.

However, rather than being hosted on the app's Discover section, it will sit online, and will be managed by editor-in-chief Nathan Jurgenson. This is partly because the publication intends to retain editorial independence to ensure it is able to focus on "writers and writing rather than clicks and shares".

Within his blog post, Mr Jurgenson said: "We plan to publish one piece of writing every weekday, though we may eventually expand to other mediums and formats as well."
