You can now apply for a verified Twitter account

Twitter is now letting anyone apply for a verified account.

Have you dreamed of getting that little blue tick next to your name on Twitter? Well, this could now be a possibility.

Twitter has announced that anyone can now apply to have their account verified, although this will only be approved if your account is determined to be of public interest.

To date, only brands, public figures, artists, athletes, and journalists have been able to have their accounts verified, but this change means that up-and-coming creators and influencers can also take advantage of this option.

Tina Bhatnagar, Twitter's vice president of user service, said: "We want to make it even easier for people to find creators and influencers on Twitter so it makes sense for us to let people apply for verification. We hope opening up this application process results in more people finding great, high-quality accounts to follow, and for these creators and influencers to connect with a broader audience."
