The role

This is a part-time role, in the Insight team whose focus is to deliver IAB UK’s industry analysis & insight, by understanding changes within the digital advertising industry that are happening now, with a view to identifying what they might mean for the future.  There is potential for this to be a full-time role, depending on experience.

Joining a team of 3 existing team members, you will be responsible for delivering insight projects and research that supports the IAB’s mission for building a better future for advertising.  You will work alongside another Insight manager, collaborate on key projects and be an active member in the team, exploring new hypotheses for the IAB.

As an Insight & Strategy Manager, you will come to the team experienced in asking challenging questions and the art of finding meaningful insight from research and data. Whilst you are an insight expert, critically you will be experienced working with planners and strategists in either an agency or media sales team.  This experience means you are able to interpret the insight into business-critical implications and meaningful recommendations for the future for use by planners, agencies, advertisers and media owners.  Having spent some time in at least one of these types of businesses, you will understand all aspects of the industry and be able to talk confidently about changes in the industry whilst understanding how to interpret research and insight in a relevant way.

Your remit is to lead and deliver IAB UK’s strategic and member-facing research projects –ensuring outputs are rooted in robust insight and support our mission. This involves managing the end-to-end process of externally-commissioned and internal IAB research, presenting insights and recommendations to relevant audiences, and managing key external stakeholder relationships.

You will have a passion for advertising and digital marketing, a keen interest in changes in the industry and an eye to the future.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Commission and lead IAB UK’s external research and insight projects, according to the IAB UK Strategy.
  • Support the Head of Insight in delivering strategic recommendations from IAB Research and market intelligence
  • Oversee and manage the Insight Executive’s delivery of internal surveys, member research and research to inform IAB campaigns.
  • Develop insight and strong implications from research for members on both buy and sell side.
  • Work with IAB marketing to produce thought leadership content for sharing with members and industry publications.
  • Keep abreast of developments in market research and insight from across the industry by liaising with agencies, attending insight-based events
  • Contribute to the IAB UK Strategy and insight plan, by identifying new projects and initiatives that will help the IAB achieve its goals. Work with members and colleagues to develop annual plans
  • Represent IAB at UKOM Commercial Board and ensure IAB has appropriate member representation
  • Contribute to IAB Measurement Workstream and deliverables.
  • Lead the process of identifying ways to maximise the impact of IAB UK’s research and measurement outputs, consulting the Marketing and Members team and other stakeholders.

 

Skills, knowledge and approach

Media and consumer behaviour

  • Deep understanding of media landscape and digital platforms
  • Keeping up with evolving technology trends in media and advertising.
  • Ability to analyze consumer insights, audience behaviour, and competitive landscapes.

  • Ability to develop long-term implications and recommendations for media and advertising
  • Problem Solving: Ability to frame research questions that address key business challenges and provide strategic solutions.
  • Critical Thinking: Skills in synthesizing research findings into strategic recommendations that are relevant to advertising solutions and our members business objectives
  • Innovation: Thinking creatively to approach research problems and generate unique insights.

Research & Insight

  • Quantitative Research: Expertise in designing, conducting, and analyzing surveys and other quantitative data.
  • Qualitative Research: Proficiency in methods such as focus groups, interviews, and ethnography.
  • Market Trends & Consumer Insights: Ability to identify market trends and derive actionable consumer insights from data.

Communication & Presentation

  • Data Storytelling: Translating complex research findings into clear, compelling narratives that members (our clients) can understand and act on.
  • Strong written and verbal communication for presenting strategies and reports to members and internal stakeholders.
  • Ability to convey complex ideas in simple terms.
  • Skill in building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders

Management structure 

This role will report into the Head of Insight, you will work alongside one other Insight Manager and be supported by an Insight Executive.

Flexible working 

We have a hybrid approach to working, with the whole company working from the office in Covent Garden every Wednesday and we ask team members to come into the office on at least one other day per week.
