The Guardian says it is also actively investigating ways to assess the impact of its digital advertising supply chain and gain a better understanding of its broader environmental footprint, including its biodiversity impact. This year, we created a new sustainability manager role to support all departments with the measurement and advice they need to embed sustainability into their day-to-day operations.

We have a cross-departmental Sustainability Leadership Group, which is tasked with the planning and delivery of sustainability initiatives across the organisation, such as running a roadshow for all departments showcasing the Guardian’s sustainability ambition and action we are taking to achieve it. We are currently preparing for our Sustainability Week 2023, which will bring our environment journalism to life for staff through talks, documentary screenings and educational events.

In addition, this year we established our Team Green Advertising Working Group, which includes colleagues from the UK, US, and Australia who are tasked with driving and sharing best practice across our advertising business.

Committed to an ambitious decarbonisation trajectory, Havas Village London/Havas UK and Ireland is committed to achieving the validated Science-Based Targets set by its parent company, Vivendi. These are based on four major objectives:
1. Reduce the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions linked to its energy consumption (Scopes 1&2) by 71% by 2035. This aligns with the trajectory for limiting climate warming to 1.5°C.

All new joiners must complete a mandatory online course on Sustainability that is offered on our internal training platform, Havas University.

As founding members of the Change The Brief Alliance, Havas have also remained committed to using the platform to inspire sustainable behaviour change through our client’s work and have recently renewed our Change the Brief to cover all of our employees across the UK and Ireland.

Additionally, we have recently launched training as part of the Net Zero series of modules offered by AXA's Net Zero school. The purpose of the training is to help our employees understand how clients can drive sustainable change in different industries.
